How to dose Delsym in Children: An age-based off-label dosing guide*

Delsym 12-hour (dextromethorphan Extended Release) is used for a dry, non-productive cough.


• Delsym is a cough suppressant medication.

• Delsym can be helpful for treating a non-productive cough which is interfering with a child's ability to sleep.

• Delsym is safe to take with over-the-counter antihistamine medications.

• Please read the labels on the box before giving your child any medicine.

• Avoid combination cough or cold products in children under 6 years old because they contain multiple active ingredients.

• Never give two cough or cold medicines at the same time.

• Delsym is usually well tolerated, but side effects include drowsiness, nausea and dizziness.

• Do not give any cough medicine to a child under 2 years old without contacting your health provider first.
